Boudin, Tabasco, and Sneezes: A Dog’s Guide to Louisiana Cuisine & Travel

Woof woof! My human and I had an amazing road trip in South West Louisiana last Saturday. We started the day by heading to Scott, where we got to try all sorts of delicious local treats, like boudin, cracklings, crawfish pie, and shrimp roll-ups. Oh boy, my nose was in heaven! I begged my human for a taste, but unfortunately, she didn’t share much.

After we filled our bellies with all that yummy food, my human surprised me by changing our plans and taking us to Avery Island. I couldn’t believe it – we were going to the land of Tabasco hot sauce! As we drove through the countryside, I saw lots of farms where they were harvesting crawfish. I wondered how many pounds they harvested, but all I really cared about was the smell of those tasty critters.

When we finally arrived at the Tabasco factory, my nose went into overdrive! The spicy aroma was making me sneeze, but it was worth it. My human didn’t share any of the hot sauce with me, but I tried to lick the air to get a taste. I must’ve looked pretty silly, but I didn’t care.

By the end of the day, I was exhausted from all the excitement, but I couldn’t wait to do it all again. I dreamt of all the crawfish I could catch if I had thumbs. But for now, I was content to curl up and take a nap, dreaming of our next adventure together.
